Primal Birthday!?!


My family and I celebrated my birthday over the weekend up in Southwest Michigan.  The weather wasn't great, but it forced us to slow down, relax and actually enjoy each other's company.  That was probably the most primal part of the weekend.

I struggled eating out this weekend.  I will admit I enjoyed some chocolate cake and profiteroles.  But heck, it was my Birthday afterall!!  Now time to get back on track.

And that is exactly what I did last night by attending the Primal Blueprint seminar in downtown Chicago hosted by Mark Sisson.  Lots of valuable information shared.  Like the fact that we need to slow life down.  A little R&R goes a long way.  So I guess I did have a pretty Primal weekend (well minus the cake and profiteroles).  It was a great weekend spending some much needed quality time with my wonderful family.  The BEST birthday gift I could have asked for.

April Fools!

So here we are at the end of our 31 day Paleo Challenge...
How did you fare??  I will be honest... I had a few slip ups.
I enjoyed a few beers on St. Patrick's Day and I enjoyed every drop!  Just last weekend we went out for dinner to a place that only serves grass fed beef.  The burger was delicious.  And after my childrens' reaction to the fries, I had to taste some.  They were delicious!!
But... I could feel the affects the next day.  I felt swollen and puffy.
So, the challenge is over but I am definitley staying Paleo.  It is a LIFESTYLE afterall!

Brownies!


In my quest to come up with some new offerings, I came up with this recipe for brownies over the weekend.  I will try to bring in some samples for you to taste.  They are quite delicious!
And of couse, will be available for purchase.

At the request of my friend, Ellen, I will be working on coming up with some other snacks.  Maybe something for the late afternoon when you are hungry but it isn't quite dinner time yet.
I made a hummus dip this afternoon, but I am not thrilled with it.  It needs some tweeking.
So look for some new and exciting things in the next few days.

Chicken with rosemary wrapped in bacon with oven roasted broccoli.  I have to say, it was delicious.  But anything wrapped in bacon is DELICIOUS!!
